Petty Charlotte is an unconventional buddy-comedy following MARNI, and her pal CHARLOTTE, the spunky spider that lives in her vagina. You read that right -- this millennial has real life coochie cobwebs and Charlotte is here to coach her and get this woman’s life back on track. But Marni isn’t the only one of the pair that needs some help. In their private moments and misadventures, these newfound buds (along with a few of their friends) will navigate love, family, and friendship... oh! and vagina.
The Ladies
MARNI is a thoughtful, bubbly, soft spoken homebody whose perfect Friday night consists of folding origami while watching the latest installment of Planet Earth. This girl LOVES her some crafting and animal factoids. She even tries to get Charlotte to join in her hobbies but Char finds it all sad and boring. Sure, Marni could be out there rippin’ and runnin’ the streets having hot wild sex-- at least that’s Charlotte’s opinion -- but to be honest, that’s not really her vibe. Heels make her feet uncomfortable, she easily gets social anxiety, and most people don’t like her ice breaker questions. Plus, she JUST got dumped by her highschool sweetheart so not only has her self esteem taken a hit, but the last time Marni was single she was 17, had a Myspace, and was wearing a bra with barely any underwire! Needless to say, she’s a little stunted. While coping with singlehood one paper crane at a time is perfectly fine with her, Char is always nudging her away from the crayon box and out of the nest to try new things. Although at times Mar feels Char pushes too hard, as she experiences successes outside of her comfort zone, she’ll grow to appreciate the fun cheeky side that Charlotte brings out!
Bold and brash CHARLOTTE is the exact opposite of Mar! She comes from a special order of spiders who are assigned to help people and waited her whole life for an assignment! While some of Charlotte’s comrades were assigned to world class racing horses and global leaders, she was tasked with Marni… a woman with a depressed vagina. That didn’t sit very well with Charlotte at first. She’s a little bougie y’all, hence her slightly petty edge, but it wasn’t long at all before she fell in love with Marni’s warm sweet charm and appreciation for spider-kind! Now they’re the best of buds even though their personalities couldn’t be more different. Charlotte is lively, a risk taker, and incredibly confident. This is especially true in her advice giving. She’s eager to help, but there’s A LOT about being a human that Charlotte doesn’t understand so her advice is usually wildly uninformed. As things go awry, Charlotte will discover that she has a lot to learn too, not only when it comes to inspiring Marni but also about herself. She’s got wants, desires, and heartaches of her own and will soon find herself leaning on Marni just as much as Marni leans on her.

Does she really live in her vagina? Really?
Yup! And it's intentional. The setting is a fun source for comedy, but it also presents an opportunity to explore women’s health in a fun organic way. Women’s health is wildly under-researched and under-discussed in the public sphere but this comic is a great way to normalize stuff like menopause, endometriosis, IUDs, and the effect antidepressants have on libido. And how although 4 ply tissue might feel great on your nethers, it basically turns your vagina into a lint trap! All of it! Now is the time to share all the things women don’t usually get the opportunity to discuss openly and done in a fun, grounded way through Marni and Charlotte’s adventures.
Are there other critters besides Char?
There are other not-so-regular characters like Marni’s neighbors and potential sex partners that will come and go depending on the story. The same can be said for Charlotte’s bug peers in and around the building too, like Rodney the Roach who comes over to troll the girls when he pleases. But the show mainly focuses on the relationship between Char and Mar and the adventures they have in their apartment.
Is this based on Charlotte's Web at all?
Nope. Char is not related to that Charlotte at all. There's no Wilbur or pork of any kind in the comic. Char does come from an Order of Spiders that have decided to help important people.
